This workshop will explore the ways photography can be used in psychotherapy, in art therapy, and for one’s own healing and personal expression.
Participants will learn:
- the differences between “phototherapy” and “photo art therapy”
- how, in this digital age, mental health professionals can work with clients to use this ubiquitous and democratic medium for growth and self-exploration
- about the new and expanding world of “therapeutic photography” and how social media is being harnessed to build communities and engage people suffering from anxiety, depression, body image issues, etc.
- how clients (and therapists!) can use photography to see beauty in their everyday worlds
- how photographers have addressed social issues and explored their worlds through image-making.
Saturday November 19, 1 PM – 4 PM
