I am a licensed professional counselor and a board-certified art therapist in private practice in Longmont, CO. I work with adults facing the challenges of trauma, body image, grief, and anxiety. I’m also a sociologist, so I’m interested in how your environment and the people around you– your friends and family–affect you.

I work with clients using both verbal psychotherapy and non-verbal methods (art therapy, photography, and writing). Clients I have worked with have found art-making, such as collage, painting, drawing, poetry, as well as photography, productive methods to reduce stress, promote self-awareness, and gain insights about themselves. I also enjoy integrating animal energy– with permission from the client– into our sessions, whether that’s a dog in the office, or being outside with some of the critters (pigs, horses, alpacas, goats or our llama). Animal energy isn’t for everyone, but it’s certainly a useful way to relax and relate for a lot of people.

I combine elements from several therapeutic traditions, including a mindfulness framework, which can be helpful for so many of us with racing minds and persistent unhelpful thoughts. I also have a deep interest in sharing an existentialist perspective, so clients will explore how they make meaning in their lives, and how they may do so in the future in a way that is consistent with their core values.

I also enjoy making art myself, and you can see some of it here.

I approach the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, and we will decide together what forms of expression feel right to you. I’m happy you have taken this first step to see how you might benefit from therapy.

Please call or email me for a free consultation and for us to determine whether we’re a good fit to work together.
